MDL is committed to preserving the environment in its mining areas in accordance with the mining industry's highest standards.  Extensive environmental baseline studies have been completed to support the management and monitoring of environmental compliance programmes during the construction and operational phases, including monitoring of water and air quality.

Detailed Environmental Strategic Plans and Monitoring Plans have been initiated.  Most significantly, MDL is developing its systems to be compliant with ISO14001, AS/NZS 4360 and IFC Performance Standards and Equator Principles.
