The safety and health of our employees, contractors and the communities in which we operate is an integral part of our business.  MDL is developing systems that comply with international safety management standards, using both a systems approach and a behaviourally-based approach for safety training and management.

An Integrated Management System (IMS) is under development which incorporates Safety, Environment, Security and Community departments for the two mining sites in Senegal and MDL's Dakar office.  The overall objective is to develop the system to meet ISO and AUS/NZ standards and, most importantly, to be used daily by our employees at the sites.  We are confident that implementation of the IMS is the right appoach to maintaining excellent management practices.

We care about the health of all our employees.  At Sabodala and Grande Côte there are on-site clinics providing for routine employee medical examinations and other consultations, including monitoring health issues in the local areas such as malaria.
